Many of my projects develop through a process of heavy prototyping, iterating, and experimenting. This page is devoted to all those samples, experiments, and prototypes that, in some cases, were developed into finished pieces.
These computationally generated experiments were inspired by the work of Hanna Kwasnycia, who hand embroiders elaborate mossy textures and forms. The goal was to achieve similar textures to the hand stitched embroideries with computational generated, machine stitched embroidery.

This project focussed on Indigo dyeing techniques – primarily shibori stitch resist methods.

The goal of this project was to create a silicon mold of a hand made clay part and cast multiple resin pieces in the mold.
Unfortunately, because the silicon was not mixed properly certain sections of the mold did not set. This caused irregularity in the cast parts.
The goal of this project was to explore the unique qualities of a 3D printed form by creating something that holds another object. My final product was simple: it held a test tube so that it could act as a vase for a single floral stem. This project was for the class DigiTool.
The prompt for this project was to choose an existing product with a handle or touch point and improve the ergonomics of this form. The primary material for the prototype was Chavant Industrial Design clay.
The form I chose to focus on was a straight edge — a tool that helps one draw or cut a straight line on a page. Many straight edges or rulers are not designed with any affordance for the human hand, even though there is a distinct way that we tend to manipulate them. My goal was to add affordances for the human hand.
Sampled various sizes of dimples then developed a method to create dimples using clay and marbles.
The goal of this project was to create a faucet which requires the user to actively participate in the process of using water.
This project was intended to explore the materials and methods for laser cutting to create a 3D clock. My original hope was to create a clock reminiscent of a light box, in which the shadow of the clock hands would be cast onto a piece of vellum. Due to time constraints the design was simplified: creating a box that cleanly integrated the clock mechanism into laser cut layers. This project was created for the class DigiTool.
